This composition assignment was where we took pictures using different composition techniques. By doing this we gained a better understanding of how to properly take a photo using the right composition. Some techniques that I found to be really useful was the rule of thirds, depth of field and perspective. This assignment overall helped me realize that there are certain ways you can take pictures that will reflect a different meaning.
Shutter Speed and Aperture
In this assignment we had to take four pictures of the same thing but using different aperture and shutter settings. By changing the shutter speed setting you can see more or less of the motion blur. By putting the camera in a higher setting there will be less motion blur and the object in motion will look still. For aperture by opening the settings the camera will have a smaller depth of field so it will only focus on the objects that are closer, by closing the aperture you will have a bigger depth of field and the camera will be able to focus on the background as well.
From the pictures of the fan you can tell that the one on the left has more blur than the one on the right because of the left I used a lower shutter speed setting than I used for the one on the right. Also, from the pictures of the pea on the second row the picture on one on the left is more focused on the background rather on the pea and the one all the way to the right is focused on both the background and the pea.
Inspiration Assignment
For my first shooting assignment I am choosing animals. My reason for picking animals to be my first assignment is because I have a dog at home and I love her. Dogs are my favorite animal so being able to take pictures of my favorite animal would be amazing.
Pop Art
For this assignment we had to crop the picture we chose to make it squarish. We then had to sharpen it and put it into black and white, after this we had to colorize it and adjust the hue and saturation to get red, green, blue and yellow. This assignment helped me get comfortable with photoshop so in the future if i want to edit my pictures I have experience using filters, guides, resizing the canvas, threshold, and moving a layer.
